Working with one’s hands is a practice, and my appreciation for the handiwork in things started at a young age. Growing up in the middle of our family-owned shop, Tancredi & Morgen, in Carmel, California, I watched my parents work with artisans and vendors from all around the world. Their love for craftsmanship and eye for authentic folk art was foundational in my aesthetic perspective and my appreciation for art and design. Preserving these crafts in film and photography before they are lost to a developing, modern world is a driving motivator within my work.
